Westside Works serves unemployed residents by providing access to necessary services that foster job success: skills assessments, soft skills, job readiness preparation and hard skills training. The program assists all city residents focusing on those from English Avenue, Vine City, Castleberry Hill, Atlanta University Center, Ashview Heights, Washington Park, Bankhead and other 30314 and 30318 Westside communities. If you live in the City of Atlanta, you’re eligible to apply for enrollment in the Westside Works program.
Staff will complete program registration along with orientation activities. Each participant is accessed in the following areas:
- Career Aptitude (O’NET),
- Basic Education (TABE),
- Needs (supportive services referrals),
- Criminal Background (self-reported) and
- Overall skill level.
Participants then meet with a case manager and receive recommendations on their career path, training options and next steps, based on the assessment outcome.
Services are provided by a collaboration of Westside soft and hard skills training organizations. Both job readiness and hard skills training are available. Current hard skills training opportunities include:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Culinary Arts
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Auto Technician
- IT Support
After registration, a case manager will call to set up an initial appointment and to invite you to the program orientation.
